There's no easy way to adjust the page width because it's html-tables within tables... I found it to be a good trade-off between too wide and too narrow. If anyone has serious problems displaying the page, let me know!
I changed the default forum appearance from "threaded" to "flat". You can make your personal choice by clicking on the respective button at the top of the page when you are in a specific forum. These settings should be saved for each user.
