Hi Everyone,

First of all, I'd like to say that I'd love the idea of such website and I have already found it useful after the very first visit. (never heard of GDL before and thanks to astro-sim.org I am now IDL-independent )

Secondly, I think that having a suite of test problems for various types of codes gathered in a one place would be a nice idea. There are many well known tests, which can be found in literature or on homepages of various groups or people, that allow to check and compare codes. However, sometimes it's hard to find a simple test problem for nontrivial cases. As an example, I am currently working on developing self-gravity in a shearing box and I'm having a hard time on finding any simple problems that I could compare with my results...

The idea of posting test problems is a good one! I'm kind of in the same situation now for radiative MHD

Let me think of a good way of enabling users to post test problems. I can definitely not search for them myself except of test problems that I use myself... and I think nobody else will have enough time. Perhaps simple articles will do the job.

I'll keep it in mind and look for a solution. Thanks for the good idea!

(Resurrecting an old thread here but..) I should mention that the JETSET collaboration (which I'm part of) did gather and document a variety of test problems for HD/MHD codes, which may be published at some point.
