I'd like to inform you that the student seminar "Numerics in Physics"
will start
next week on Monday, May 7th, at 18:15 in the seminar room of the
Physikalisches
Institut (Philosophenweg 12).

All (diploma and Ph.D.) students from working groups within IMPRS or HGSFP
are
cordially invited to join. So, please spread the word among your
colleagues...

where you can find all informations regarding the seminar. If you plan
to come,
please create an account in order to be able to view and edit the pages and
receive mail announcements of the talks.

In the first session, I'll present the outline of the seminar; we should then
discuss the details on how we would like to have the talks, and assign
the first
topics to students.
To whet your appetite, I'll also give a brief introduction on the software
repository system "subversion" and show a online demo on how this
tremendously
useful system can facilitate everyday coding work.

Hello!

This is indeed a very interesting seminar, but as you mentioned yourself only interesting for people from Heidelberg.

If you click on the world map on the left you'll see that half of the visitors come from the American continent. And even Europeans will probably not travel to Heidelberg to attend to this seminar.

So I guess we should NOT cover local announcements like seminars or lectures here. University pages can do that much better.
