It's mainly relevant for people of our university, but still I will post here the invitation for the seminar on numerics in physics. I think I will likely join there.
Hello everybody,
I'd like to inform you that the student seminar "Numerics in Physics"
will start
next week on Monday, May 7th, at 18:15 in the seminar room of the
Physikalisches
Institut (Philosophenweg 12).
All (diploma and Ph.D.) students from working groups within IMPRS or HGSFP
are
cordially invited to join. So, please spread the word among your
colleagues...
There is a wiki
http://www.ita.uni-heidelberg.de/collaborations/fundamentalphysics/wiki/,
where you can find all informations regarding the seminar. If you plan
to come,
please create an account in order to be able to view and edit the pages and
receive mail announcements of the talks.
In the first session, I'll present the outline of the seminar; we should then
discuss the details on how we would like to have the talks, and assign
the first
topics to students.
To whet your appetite, I'll also give a brief introduction on the software
repository system "subversion" and show a online demo on how this
tremendously
useful system can facilitate everyday coding work.
See you there,
Peter Melchior
